Various types of principles are used in evaluation and the treatment of constipation. The first principle is to make difference between both acute and chronic constipation. It is very necessary to diagnosis the cause of acute constipation early, as it may cause due to any serious illness. The second principle is to start the treatment early and used those treatments which have less chance to harm you. The third principle is related to the time to start the evaluation of the cause of chronic constipation. The need for evaluation of chronic constipation is necessary if the simple treatments cannot work.
The treatment of constipation mainly concentrates on bowel movements without any pain. When there is an urge for toilet then don’t suppress it. Also take into the note about drugs which may contribute to constipation. Increase fruits, vegetables, and grains in your diet as they are rich in fiber.
If you cannot get relief from constipation using these simple methods then add some other measures with them such as added-emollient, saline, hyper-osmolar laxatives, enemas, and suppositories etc. If constipation is continuous, then the safest laxatives is to take on a regular basis are the hyper-osmolar laxatives as more laxatives can damage your colon. Milk of magnesia is the mildest of the saline laxatives. It is inexpensive and a good alterative of hyper-osmolar laxatives.
Many people take herbs and various types fruits and their juices to treat constipation as natural product do not have any side-effects. But the many of the herbal preparations contain stimulant laxatives and their long term use may result in damage of the colon.
