Appendicitis is a severe condition in which the appendix of an individual becomes inflamed and later filled with pus. The appendix is a small bag that puts out from the colon on the lower right side of the abdomen. This finger shaped apparatus does not have any important purpose, but still it does not mean that it cause problems. Inflammation of the appendix is known as appendicitis. It is caused due to blockage in the opening from the appendix into the cecum. This blockage is generally happened when a thick mucus build-up or when the stool enters into the appendix from the cecum. This deposited stool and mucus becomes hard like rock and block the opening. This rock like hard thing is known as fecalith.

Brainerd diarrhea is a syndrome of extreme onset of water diarrhea that exists either for 4 weeks or more than that. Bismuth subsalicylate (Pepto-Bismol) contains two active ingredients- bismuth and salicylate (aspirin). Bismuth compounds are effective only in traveler’s diarrhea and the treatment of H.pylori. It is not clear how bismuth subsalicylate would work with the only exception of traveler diarrhea. It is like an antibiotic that affects bacteria causing diarrhea. Bismuth may lower the water secretion by the intestine and anti-inflammatory salicylate reduces the water secretion.
