E. coli bacteria are one of the causes of acute diarrhea. There are different kinds of E.coli bacteria in which some are pathogenic and some are non-pathogenic. Generally most of the bacteria are non-pathogenic and reside in intestine and colon. These non-pathogenic E.coli bacteria do not cause disease in the intestine but if they spread outside the intestine, then they cause infection in various body parts like urinary tract or in the blood stream.
