Children are very often complaining about stomachaches. They may experience stomach pain after eating too much or when they feel nervous about any future event. Stomach ache may be acute or chronic. It may be severe or may not be. So it is necessary that proper care should be taken if your child complaint about the stomach problem.
Generally children love junk foods, chocolates etc. instead of eating food which contain lot of fiber such as fruits and vegetables. Eating too much such type of food may result in stomach pain. If your child complaints about the stomach ache then go to the doctor to find out the exact cause of the stomach ache as it may be the sign of some serious illness.
The cause of stomach ache can be associated with food poisoning, infection in stomach, insect bites etc. Bacterial and viral infection can be the main cause of stomach ache. Gastroenteritis and stomach flu are some of the examples of such infections. The pain or problems which occur due to viral infection may not require any medicine and can go away quickly whereas infection cause due to bacteria may require some medicines and antibiotics. If the problem is related to diarrhea then it is necessary to provide plenty of fluids to children as it may prevent your child from dehydration.
If the cause of stomach ache is related to any food then it may happen due to food poisoning, gas production, excess food intake, food allergies etc. If stomach pain occurs due to food poisoning then it may be severe or minor depending upon the type of poisoning the child is suffering from. There are various symptoms of food poisoning such as vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, nausea etc. If your child is suffering from food poisoning then it should require immediately attention of the doctor.
Any particular type of food such as dairy product or sea food may also cause tummy irritation. Like diary products can cause lactose intolerance. If your child is allergic to any particular type of food then even a small amount of intake of such food may cause vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, cramping, skin rash etc. Poisoning can also be happens due to overdose of medicines. So it should be place away from the reach of your children. Common household chemicals should also be place away from the reach of your children.
Some time stomach pain can also happens due to insect bites. It may have the symptoms like muscle cramps, weakness, nausea, tremor, vomiting, dizziness, fainting, respiratory problems, chest pain etc. Sometimes heart rate and blood pressure are also increases.
Stomach ache can also be occurs due to problem of appendicitis. If the cause of stomach ache is appendicitis then it may require immediate medical attention. The pain starts slowly in the abdomen, specifically near the belly button. The pain shifts slowly to the right side of the lower abdomen within a time period spanning twenty four hours. Abdominal pain, vomiting, nausea, fever, loss of appetite etc are some symptoms occur due to appendicitis.
